India, with her over 5000 yrs old civilization, is perhaps one of the few nations in the world, which has such a cultural heritage, rich, diverse and unique. The most unique aspect of India’s cultural identity is the vast, yet to be fully explored, treasure of folk arts. Just as India’s social and cultural structure has remained resilient through invasions and persecutions and retained its unity in diversity in religious, racial, linguistic or artistic fields, so has her folk arts enriched and evolved through the ages.
